The Union Canal
Here are some more notes from Tom's diary
Monday 7th June - Alexander House and Craigie House
A very rainy day didn't dampen the spirits of our party of residents from both Alexander and Craigie House on another barge trip along the Union Canal from Ratho. The overhanging trees alongside the towpath and the raindrops dancing on the water made it quite atmospheric. We also saw some ducklings whose mother kept an eye on us as we passed.
Tuesday 8th June - Methven House
For our frist trip we took a mid morning run in and around Dunfermline before returning to Auchtertool for lunch. In the afternoon a visit to Kirkcaldy's garden centre where we bought some kits for the residents to plant and look after some herbs and flowers at Methven House. One of the residents, James, guided us with his knowledge of gardening.
Wednesday 9th June - Camilla House
A shopping trip to Fife Retail Park and Kirkcaldy High Street where a couple of the residents took the opportunity to make some purchases. After what was quite a cold morning we were glad to see it become a little brighter and warmer in the afternoon.
Thursday 10th June - Preston House
Our first trip today was to the Kingdom Centre in Glenrothes before returning to Preston House for lunch. In the afternoon it was Preston's turn for a barge trip along the Union Canal at Ratho. We managed to sit outside for part of the trip enjoying the sunshine and scenery.
